Rankings for Oklahoma Tournaments - Posted By David Watson on Sunday, September 30, 2007 at 10:21 AM
Oklahoma Ranking System
Points accumulated in this manner:
8+ players in Division
1st = 40 pts
2nd = 35 pts
3rd = 30 pts
4th = 25 pts
(if there is not a play off for 3rd & 4th, pts are combined and divided by 2)
Qrtr finalists receive 15 pts each
7-5 players in Division
1st = 35 pts
2nd = 30 pts
3rd = 25 pts
4th = 20 pts
5-7 finishers receive 10 pts each
4 players in Division
1st = 20 pts
2nd = 15 pts
3rd = 10 pts
4th = 5 pts
3 players or less in Division
1st = 15 pts
2nd = 10 pts
3rd = 5 pts

State Tournaments add 20 pts per finish
3 day Tournaments add 10 pts per finish

This ranking system is not only based on participation, but also the consistancy of a player throughout the season from Sept. 1, 2007 through Aug. 31, 2008. At the end of 12 weeks, the first tournament points drop off and the 13th week is added and so on. These points shall be used for continual updated rankings for the State events in Oklahoma. Total points accumulated up to the State Singles Tournament should be used for seeding at that event and rankings should be used for seeding at all events throughout the season. I strongly recomend that if a player wins a division, that he/she move up to the next division for 2 events before returning back to the lower division (not manditory). Tournament Directors still maintain the right to reclassify or decline and entry in the best interest of fair play.

I believe that this ranking system will improve the growth, competition, and the recognition of our racquetball players. We will be able to name the top player of the year for each Skill Division, a most Improved Player of the Year, and a Sportmansship Player of the Year.

The ingredients are clubs hosting events, sponsors backing the events and most importantly, players participating in the events for success.
